Survivor's Guide to Suicide
Survivor's Guide to Suicide, Toonspeak's recent collaboration with Lifelink Crisis and Choose Life, played to packed audiences at the RSAMD's Chandler Studio in Septemebr of 2009. An imaginative and original piece of issue-based theatre devised entirely by the young people taking part in the project, Survivor's Guide aimed to raise awareness of this difficult subject during Suicide Prevention Awareness Week, as well as breaking down some of the myths and misconceptions that surround the issue of suicide.
As a piece of Theatre in Education, Survivor’s Guide to Suicide received overwhelmingly positive feedback from members of the audience and the schools groups who attended the show. If you have any questions about this project, or the issues raised in it, feel free to contact us at Toonspeak or give our partners Lifelink Crisis a call on 0141 552 4434.
“Excellent & understated – it got the message across, with not too much comedy or depression – a fine balance!”
“I think it is such a valuable show… life-saving! I really like the way that the messages were portrayed in a playful way.”
“Humour and information allows the subject to be easily understood and interesting.”
“Very poignant – should be shown to a wider audience.”
“Fantastic, get it on tour!”
“Very informative & factual, I loved the way that humour was used in a “dark” topic. The pace was right for digestion of material. Fantastic, thanks Toonspeak!”
“Very informative. A lot easier to understand than reading about the issue in a magazine.”
“Not just flinging facts at people but still gets the message across.”
