Toonspeak Young People's Theatre
Studio Sessions

The Studio Sessions meet one evening a week at the Toonspeak studio, and work towards two performance projects a year.  The Studio Sessions gives over-16s and some younger members who have been coming to Toonspeak for at least a year the opportunity to take on a new challenge.  It is for those who behave well and have a real interest in increasing their acting and theatre skills.

The Studio Session-ers have created a number of successful productions since they began in 2009. The shows are generally issue based, with young people choosing themes that concern them and genres that they are interested in.  The first was a project tackling the challenging subject of teenage sexual health, but with an unusual twist - Teenage Sexual Health: The Musical!, was a unique look at a growing problem for Scotland's young people.  The second was one of Toonspeak's darkest performances to date - Boiling Point, looking at gang related violence in a post-apocalyptic world! Wasted was next and was an ambitious new project looking at the dangers of hazardous drinking.  Toonspeak worked in partnership with the North Glasgow CHCP. This term we will be creating a new production, working with GHA and the wider community, keep an eye on our Productions page to find out more...

"Very educational, seemed to come from the young people themselves as opposed to having an adult's idea projected on to them."
