Decision Makers
Here at Toonspeak, empowerment is the name of the game! Our groundbreaking decision makers programme is designed to empower our participants by putting them at the heart of the decision making processes of the organisation and allowing them to take an active role in the running of the company. There are a number of ways that young people can get involved:
Young Board Members
We have 6 places for young people on our board of directors who get to make all of the most important decisions about how Toonspeak is run. They basically get to tell the staff what to do! The Board meets bi-monthly, and young Board Members are given support and training to help them take meaningful decisions about company direction and operation. |

Members Forum
For our younger members, the Toonspeak Members Forum is a committee of dedicated members who meet regularly to represent the wider Toonspeak membership and discuss the issues that really matter to them. They also develop new project ideas and apply for funding to make them happen. |

Theatre Workshop Committees
Each term we run a committee, 2 elected representatives from each of our Theatre Workshop groups. Young people on the Committee receive training in project planning, negotiation and budgeting and then represent the views of all of our Theatre Workshop members. They plan theatre trips once a term, as well as the Spring Cabaret event - where all the Theatre Workshops come together to share their work and perform in front of a larger audience. |
